History Advisement
History is an incredibly flexible and useful major for just about any career. Its emphasis on synthesizing conflicting information and crafting persuasive arguments with compelling evidence are essential skills for civic engagement.
Whether you're transferring to UNM or already here but want to change your major to History, the first step toward a History Major is to make an appointment to meet with the College of Arts and Sciences History advisor, Hannah Agnew (historyadvise@unm.edu, from the College of Arts and Sciences Advisement Center.
Erica can take you through a degree audit, help sort out transfer credits, review where you stand with University graduation requirements, and evaluate how whatever you have left to complete a History Major might fit into your schedule. She is the one who can officially change your major to History if that’s what you elect to do.
Specific questions about History courses, what courses fit your career aspirations, and what to do with a history degree should be directed to the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Fred Gibbs (dushistory@unm.edu).
