Scholarships
The UNM Department of History offers several scholarships to declared majors and/or minors in History. download the application form (a form-fillable PDF), prepare a 1-page single-spaced application statement that explains relevant qualifications, and provide names of two history faculty members who could provide recommendations. All materials should be emailed to Yolanda Martinez at history@unm.edu by February 12th at 12:00 noon.
Alfred Grunsfeld Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Annual scholarship is given to a male and female student having completed 15 credit hours in history, and 60 hours toward the B.A. degree with an overall and major GPA of 3.3 or higher.
Conlon-Demas Undergraduate Research Fund in History
This fund supports the research and conference expenses of undergraduate honors students.
Robert Figge and Thord Nilson Endowed Scholarship Fund in European History
Established to honor two history teachers from Highland High School in Albuquerque, this endowed scholarship fund supports undergraduate, junior, or senior history students studying European history, based on academic achievement and financial need.
Bernice A. Rebord Memorial Scholarship in History
Honoring a career-long history teacher in Albuquerque, this scholarship is awarded to juniors, seniors, or MA students who wish to pursue a career in elementary or secondary education. The award is based on both scholastic and financial need.
Graham Browne Endowed Memorial Scholarship in History
Established in memory of a co-founder of the Sutin, Thayer & Browne law firm of New Mexico, this undergraduate scholarship is annually awarded to a full-time history student, preference given to an American History major in good academic standing with demonstrated financial need.
Scott Andrew Hudson Scholarship in History
Established in memory of a UNM History Alumni, this award is designated for a student pursuing an interest in the study of the United States Civil War or World War II History.
