Dr. Luis Campos has just been awarded the highly prestigious Baruch S. Blumberg NASA/Library of Congress Chair in Astrobiology. His proposal, “Life as It Could Be: Astrobiology, Synthetic Biology, and the Future of Life” was selected as the top proposal from an international pool of applicants. According to the award letter, Dr. Campos was “chosen on the basis of intellectual accomplishment and the ability to communicate ideas effectively to a broader audience.” As the Blumberg Professor of the Library of Congress, a position funded by NASA, Luis will be engaged full-time in research at the Library’s Kluge Center. According to the letter, “The Kluge Center annually brings a small number of top scholars and researchers into periods of residence at the Library to stimulate and energize one another, to distill wisdom from the Library’s rich resources, and to interact with policymakers and the public.”
