Dr. Paul Hutton Delivers Talk on Mangas Coloradas

Dr. Paul Hutton will deliver a lecture "The Head of Mangas Coloradas" on September 4 at 12:00 noon in the New Mexico History Museum Auditorium.

 

 

In 1863, Mangas Coloradas, the leader of several Apache bands united in war against the United States, attempted to make peace with Brigadier General James Carleton, Commander, New Mexico Department, U.S. Army.  It proved to be a fatal mistake. 

Paul Andrew Hutton is an American cultural historian, an award-winning author, documentary writer, and television personality. He is Distinguished Professor of History at the University of New Mexico, a former executive director of the Western History Association, and a past president of the Western Writers of America.
